I started BJJ when I lost interest in playing hockey and going to the gym never appealed to me. I was looking for something different to do that would keep me active and I ended up seeing a Dorchester Martial Arts t-shirt in the supermarket and looked into what BJJ was. It looked like a lot of fun and a good way to keep active.
Turns out its the best kind of fitness I have done in a long time, it’s already helped me lose over a stone in weight, and gain a lot more confidence in my personal life. I went down to the gym to try out the free session and was greeted by Luke and made me feel incredibly welcome.
During my first session I was so out of my depth I had no idea what I was doing but everyone in the class helped me out as much as they could, and I became hooked from the word go. I wanted to figure out how to escape difficult positions and maybe try and win and this is why I love how technical the sport is. I have made some very good friends and I would recommend that if you read this please give it ago you wont know how much you like it until you try it!
